What’s the difference between a club and an interest group?

Interest groups have access to groups management (email) and the ability to book rooms in Uris and Warren Halls.  In addition to this, clubs have a university spending account and charge membership dues.

What’s the process for starting a club?

• Read through guidelines and application
• Set up an appointment with Jilliann Rodriguez (OSA) and Lindsay Jacobson (GBA VP Clubs and Careers) to discuss your idea and evaluate next steps
• Complete next steps and application; submit to OSA and GBA club committee for review
• Club committee to review and approve/deny application; if application is approved, it will go before the GBA Council in next meeting for final voting

When and where do I need to submit my application?

All applications should be submitted in hard-copy to the OSA office.  Please note that we ask that you collect handwritten signatures of supporters and potential members to submit with your application and are firm in this requirement.

For the spring 2011 semester, the submission dates for new club/interest group applications are:

Are we allowed to attend the Club Committee and GBA meetings?

You are certainly allowed to attend the Club Committee meeting if your proposed student organization is scheduled to be reviewed.  Please contact a representative on the Club Committee to let them know you plan to attend.

The GBA Council meetings are held monthly and open to all CBS students.  The meetings are held during club hours.  See below for meeting dates for this semester.
