<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Executive Board Elections</span></p>

<p>The Executive Vice President will be elected by the GBA Council in April. The First Year Senator, Adeel Ahamed, will continue to serve and join the new executive board as the Second Year Senator.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Grade Disclosure Referendum</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Participation</span></p>
<p>The community accomplished record results with <strong>91.3% </strong>total MBA<strong> </strong>participation by poll closing at 7pm today. 45.5% of EMBAs participated in the vote.</p>
<p>70% of MBA students participated in the first 10 hours of the election.</p>
<p>This <em>satisfies</em> the 75% participation requirement.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Threshold</span></p>
<p>4.9% of all voters abstained. Excluding ‘Abstains’, <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">76.7% of those participating voted for Grade Non-Disclosure</span></strong>.</p>
<p>This <em>satisfies</em> the 75% in favor threshold requirement.</p>
<p>Based on the results above, the referendum passes.  The Student Body Grade Non-Disclosure Policy will be implemented effective Fall 2011. This means that the Student Body has voted to refrain from disclosing specific class grades, GPAs or transcripts to potential employers until a full-time position has been offered.</p>
<p>Congratulations to all the candidates and to everyone who participated in this week’s elections.</p>

</span></strong><br />
<strong>What is the Academics Committee?</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The      Academics Committee is a sub-committee of the GBA that meets regularly      with Vice Dean Ziv and key members of the faculty and administration to      address curricular and other academic issues.</li>
<li>It’s      the only committee that brings together <strong>students</strong>,      <strong>faculty</strong>, and <strong>administration</strong>.</li>
<li>In      years past, the Academics Committee has launched the CBS Peer Course      Review website, advised changes to the bidding process, initiated video      clips for elective professors, created the Elective Faculty Access Program      (EFAP), and worked on integrating the Honor Code into CBS academics.</li>
<li><strong>This      year’s committee has more great ideas to improve the academic experience,      but we could use your help and participation! </strong></li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What does this position entail?</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Term</strong>: 2 years</li>
<li><strong>Duties</strong>:
<ul>
<li>Represent student interests and needs to CBS faculty,       administration, and staff</li>
<li>Work as part of a team to initiate positive change in       CBS academics</li>
<li>Attend 3 regular Academics Committee meetings per semester</li>
<li>Serve on Academics Committee subcommittees (as needed)
<ul>
<li>You will have the opportunity to lead initiatives and        teams of students around specific academic issues that you are        passionate about.</li>
<li>If there is not a specific issue that you want to        focus on, we also have many other projects and ideas to choose from.</li>
<li>Projects range in size and time commitment, so we can        work with you to fit your needs and interests.</li>

</em>The polls will be open <span style="text-decoration: underline;">online</span> from Monday, February 14th to Wednesday, February 16th.  The entire student body will be eligible to vote.</p>
<p>To add your name to the list of candidates, please email me at <a href="mailto:wcarey11@gsb.columbia.edu">wcarey11@gsb.columbia.edu</a> with a <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">statement of intent (250 words max) no later than 11:59PM on Friday, </span></strong><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">February 11th.</span></strong><br />
Please note that there will be no speeches. Statements will be posted online on Monday, February 14th. An email will be sent out to the student body when the polls are available.  Also, campaigning is not required, but should you choose to do so, you may only begin after voting opens on Monday, the 14th.  More details will be sent out on Saturday to the candidates once all of the statements are submitted.</p>
